How to get to Futaleufú
Futaleufú is nestled deep in Chilean Patagonia, surrounded by raw nature and breathtaking landscapes. Getting here is part of the journey itself, and there are two main international routes: one through Chile and one through Argentina.
From Chile
The main air gateway is Puerto Montt, with direct flights from Santiago of approximately 2 hours. From there, the Carretera Austral traces the path southward: travelers must cross the Patagonian fjords by ferry, or alternatively take a regional flight to Chaitén and continue by road to Futaleufú. A second air option is flying from Santiago to Balmaceda, in the Aysén region, accessing the area from the south along the same legendary route.
From Argentina
Travelers arriving from the Argentine side can fly into Bariloche or Esquel, both connected by air to Buenos Aires. From either city, the road heads west through Argentine Patagonia until crossing the Río Futaleufú Border Pass, entering Chilean territory just 10 kilometers from the village.
