LAGO LONCONAO | FUTALEUFÚ - PATAGONIA

Spaces that translate the territory's silence into an experience of shelter and contemplation

PATAGONIA lodge

is inspired by the Yagán people, one of the southernmost Indigenous communities in the world. Their way of life was deeply connected to the water, the forests, and the rhythms of nature. The Yagán navigated remote channels and islands guided by the wind and tides, relying on an intimate relationship with the environment to live and thrive.

At Yagan Coop, we honor that spirit: simplicity, respect for the land, and a lifestyle in harmony with the natural landscape. Our refuges are designed to blend architecture, nature, and silence, offering an experience that feels authentic, simple, and mindful.

Just as the Yagán people saw each sunrise as the beginning of a new journey, Yagan Coop invites you to reconnect with what truly matters, breathe the native forest, and enjoy the calm of Lake Lonconao—a place where nature sets the pace, and where simplicity becomes meaningful again.

Architecture

The architecture of Yagan Coop is inspired by the ancient canoes of the Yagán people, crafted from lightweight wood and bark and designed to adapt to the southern environment. In the same way, our refuges are created to live in harmony with the landscape: simple structures, natural materials, and a discreet presence that rests on the terrain without overwhelming it.Just as Yagán canoes offered warmth, shelter, and essential protection while moving through the channels, our cabins reinterpret that spirit through cozy interiors, clean lines, and a direct connection with the native forest and Lake Lonconao. The result is an architecture that engages in dialogue with nature and reflects the same principles that guided the southern navigators: moving with respect, simplicity, and harmony with the land.

How to get to Futaleufú

Futaleufú is nestled deep in Chilean Patagonia, surrounded by raw nature and breathtaking landscapes. Getting here is part of the journey itself, and there are two main international routes: one through Chile and one through Argentina.

From Chile

The main air gateway is Puerto Montt, with direct flights from Santiago of approximately 2 hours. From there, the Carretera Austral traces the path southward: travelers must cross the Patagonian fjords by ferry, or alternatively take a regional flight to Chaitén and continue by road to Futaleufú. A second air option is flying from Santiago to Balmaceda, in the Aysén region, accessing the area from the south along the same legendary route.

From Argentina

Travelers arriving from the Argentine side can fly into Bariloche or Esquel, both connected by air to Buenos Aires. From either city, the road heads west through Argentine Patagonia until crossing the Río Futaleufú Border Pass, entering Chilean territory just 10 kilometers from the village.
